OnePlus is a notable company that produces technology gadgets ranging from mobile phones to tablets. They are known for producing high-quality and affordable devices. The OnePlus 10 Pro is one of their latest flagship devices. However, the question is, is the OnePlus 10 Pro worth the price?

In this review of the OnePlus 10 Pro, I will be discussing all you need to know about this phone. I will go over the phone’s features, performance, and battery life in detail.

After reading this review, you will have all the information you need to make an informed decision about whether or not the OnePlus 10 Pro smartphone is right for you.

Unboxing

Unboxing The OnePlus 10 Pro Mobile Phone

The items in the  OnePlus 10 Pro vary depending on the region it is purchased from.

What’s included in the OnePlus 10 Pro package in places like Europe and Asia (including China and India) is as follows:

  • The phone itself, in the shade of your choice.
  • 1 USB Type-A to Type-C Cable for the 80W SuperVOOC Power Adapter
  • Shortcut Guide
  • Letter of Welcome, Safety Data, and Warranty Screen Protector for Cards (pre-applied)
  • Safeguarding Case
  • Red Cable Club membership card, OnePlus stickers, and SIM Tray Ejector

The OnePlus 10 Pro box contents are the same for models sold in North America

except for three significant variations.

One is that the OnePlus 10 Pro, sold in North America, only has hardware that enables 65W fast charging; thus, it includes a 65W SuperVOOC charger in its place.

Second, the phone’s retail packaging includes a USB Type-C to Type-C connection to pair with the 65W charger, which has a USB Type-C port. Third, a USB Type-A to Type-C dongle is also supplied.

Design

The OnePlus 10 Pro has a less generic design than older models making it look elegant and chic. With a weight of about 200 grams, the mobile phone is incredibly portable and simple to carry.

The square camera bump may be quite divisive as it is a bit big; if you are the type that loves a massive in-your-face Hasselblad branded camera module that nicely blends into the metal frame, that is another thing about the design, you are going to love.

It has a distinctive and striking overall design.

The two prominent colours for the OnePlus 10 Pro are Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest.

Build Quality

You will be getting a beautiful sand-like matte texture on the back. The phone provides limited grip, so it might feel a bit slippery because of how smooth it is, but it is not a hassle.

The OnePlus 10 Pro feels very nice to hold; the matte texture does a really nice job of repelling fingerprints. Things stay smart no matter how much you fondle it, the glass back is only defeated by grease, but it is nothing a quick wipedown cannot fix.

It has Gorilla Glass 5 protection around the back with a matte finish which makes it unlikely to get scratched. The front is made of Gorilla Glass Victus, which helps keep it from shattering, making it a very durable phone with a high-quality build.

However, it is not officially IP rated, meaning it is not water or dust-resistant, but there is a T-Mobile variant in the United States which has IP68 water resistance. If your phone gets moist, it will be unresponsive.

The buttons are tactile, and it has an alert slider that allows you to slide up and down with your finger.

The entire build quality is of high grade, and there really is nothing cheap about the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Screen size

In terms of screen size, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO 2 AMOLED display panel with a QHD plus 2k resolution.

Refresh Rate

The refresh rate of the OnePlus 10 Pro can go all the way up to 120Hz, which gives it a natural-looking contrast. It can be changed depending on the content that you are consuming to save battery ultimately.

Brightness

The screen technology of the OnePlus 10 Pro has evolved significantly from the older models in terms of brightness. The panel has undergone dual colour calibration, which produces richer-looking visuals even at very low brightness, so colours still pop.

OnePlus tuned the colour profiles at 100 and 500 nits of brightness so that you can see more accurate colours across more levels of brightness.

The display colour is very accurate, making it ideal for consuming or even creating content. Otherwise, the screen is rated for up to 1300 nits of brightness with great visibility outdoors.

It has new features such as the AI adaptive brightness, which actually evolves over time to learn your own personal, convenient brightness level.

Input Device

Input Device

Keyboard

The keyboard of the OnePlus 10 Pro is the reliable and user-friendly standard keyboard found across OnePlus devices. The keyboard is compatible with a number of input languages.

You can also change the default keyboard to any external downloaded keyboard of your choice in the settings of the mobile phone.

Touchpad

The OnePlus 10 Pro’s touchpad has an extremely smooth operation. It is incredibly sensitive and continues to function quite well. The total experience is quite nice because every action is responded to very quickly due to the high refresh rate.

Sound Quality

Sound Quality

Speaker

The OnePlus 10 Pro has a dual stereo speaker system which is good enough for watching videos and listening to podcasts. However, music can sound tinny at higher volumes.

Microphone

The position of the microphone of the OnePlus 10 Pro US Model is different from its counterparts. It is placed at the back, in the middle of the camera array. This microphone design is not present in the Chinese variant of this device.

The microphone is standard; it helps the OnePlus 10 Pro capture audio better, which is effective during voice and video recording, video and audio calls, and produces a good sound experience.

Performance

In terms of performance, the OnePlus 10 Pro is not lagging behind. It is ideal for anyone who loves to watch various content and those who love to use their mobile devices for gaming purposes.

Processor

The OnePlus 10 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset which is available in 8GB and 12GB RAM paired with 128GB and 256GB of non-expandable storage, respectively. It is paired with the new OnePlus 3d passive cooling system, as this large chipset does not make the OnePlus 10 Pro run hot. The thermal management is excellent, with minimal throttling.

This makes the OnePlus 10 Pro a great choice for gamers, but keep in mind that most of the games you would be playing would be limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, which is indeed a shame as it is failing to take full advantage of the performance of its amazing chipset.

Battery Life

Battery Life

The OnePlus 10 Pro has the biggest battery that OnePlus has ever integrated into any of its smartphones with its 5000mAH battery which is enough battery power to last close to a day’s usage, depending on the tasks you perform with it.

The most impressive thing about the battery of the OnePlus 10 Pro is its charging speed. If you purchase the OnePlus 10 Pro in North America, It charges around 55% in 15 minutes with the 65-watt charger that comes with the box. At every other place, you would get an 80watt fast charger which charges the phone just slightly faster than the 65-watt charger.

There is a version that supports 15 watts of wireless charging.

Features – OnePlus 10 Pro Review

I’ll be discussing a few features of the OnePlus 10 Pro in this section. The smartphone is a good flagship mobile device with a number of amazing features that make it a good enough choice.

The OnePlus 10 pro has a high-grade chipset making it a good device for day-to-day activities, including heavy tasks like gaming. Its high-end chipset allows for excellent performance and little to no lagging while performing various tasks.

It has a very decent battery that can last up to a day’s usage and can charge fully in less than about 30 minutes which is really great. If you fall into the category of people who are always needing to be on their phones for various reasons and do not like having to leave the phone for long to charge, the OnePlus 10 Pro is an excellent choice.

It has an amazing display and brightness that allows for a great outdoor experience. The screen technology in regard to brightness also includes an AI adaptive brightness which evolves over time to learn the brightness level you are most comfortable with.

The screen provides for nice wide viewing angles with HDR support with natural-looking contrast. It has a good refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the device, which is your basic 2d optical sensor. The fingerprint scanner is placed further up in the display, making it easier to reach with one hand.

The Camera

The Camera

Rear Camera

The OnePlus 10 Pro is made up of a three-lens camera system; a 48mp f 1.8 main camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a 50mp f 2.2 ultrawide camera with a 150-degree field of view and an 8mp f 2.4 telephoto camera with a bunch of software tricks to capture portraits, long exposure and time-lapse photography.

The main camera outputs 12mp photos by default in daylight. This camera produces great shots with a good amount of detail. The colour rendering has been greatly improved in comparison to older models, but It’s not perfectly accurate. Colours come out vivid and are aesthetically pleasing to look at. HDR is a bit more conservative, so images have a more natural look.

Portraits are shot primarily with the main camera with an available digital zoom mode. The blur effect is convincing, too, making the pictures come out nicely.

The telephoto camera shots maintain the same colours and resolved detail but with more pleasing contrast. The shots have noticeably fewer sharpening effects than those from the main camera.

Shots taken with the ultrawide camera might only lose a little detail compared to the main camera, but the colours look very similar. However, it has lost the autofocus capabilities and the macro photography that came on the 9 pro, which is a bit disappointing.

You can shoot in a 150-degree ultrawide mode which unlocks the camera’s full field of view. It is hard to ignore the lens distortion of the edges, but it can make for some interesting shots depending on the object.

There is a fish eye mode which produces even more dramatic shots.

In low light, the main camera takes excellent photos even without enabling the night mode. The large main sensor captures low-light scenes well with plenty of detail and without over-sharpening images while retaining pleasing colours.

Using night mode makes a difference in situations with extremely low light or whenever there are light sources in the photo. It also retains highlights, and the exposure is more balanced.

The telephoto camera also performs well in night mode, exposures come out balanced, and the colours are pleasant to the eye. Noise is very well suppressed.

Front Camera

The OnePlus 10 Pro features a new 32 mp selfie camera with f 2.2 aperture resulting in photos with great details and a very well-handled dynamic range in backlit scenes. The colours are pleasant and not too saturated. This also lacks autofocus.

The videos are limited to 1080p. The best mode to shoot videos with is the 4k, and it is available on the main camera in 30, 60 and 120 frames per second. Your footage would come out clean and crisp, with great levels of detail and dynamic ranger performance is similar to still images.

The Telephoto camera maxes out at 1080p 30 frames per second which looks decent enough.

Portability

In terms of portability, the OnePlus 10 Pro is on the light side, weighing 200g. It is very slim and easy to carry on one hand.

Serviceability

The OnePlus 10 Pro is a relatively serviceable gadget because the majority of its parts can be changed or replaced.

Connectivity

Connectivity

Ports

The OnePlus 10 Pro has just two ports, one USB-C port for charging and a dual nano sim tray.

Wireless connectivity

Wi-Fi Speed:a; b; g; n; ac
Bluetooth Version:Bluetooth 5.2
Wi-Fi Features:Dual-band; Hotspot; Wi-Fi Direct
Bluetooth Features: A2DP; BT LE

Software

The OnePlus 10 pro comes with the latest Android 12 software with the oxygen OS 12 launcher slathered on top. This comes complete with three years of OS updates and four years of security updates, thus matching other competitive flagship devices like Samsung.

It has some new features like the upgraded shelf is easier to access and a bit more customisable. There is plenty of potential for customisation with the oxygen OS, including an excellent range of always-on-display options, so you can customise so many other things without having to install third-party apps. There is also no presence of bloatware, giving you a very smooth user experience.

pros and cons

Pros

  • Very fast charging
  • The Latest Android 12 software
  • Excellent brightness capabilities for outdoor usage
  • Nice low-light camera performance
  • 5g connectivity

Cons

  • No expandable storage
  • Oxygen OS has lost most of its character in its merger with oppo colour OS, which makes it inconsistent with the older models.
  • No autofocus.

Buyer’s Guide

With a powerful processor and a fast refresh rate, the OnePlus 10 Pro is a very decent flagship gadget. Thanks to the snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset, the mobile device can manage any form of workload that these kinds of devices are utilised for without stuttering or lagging. However, It is notIP68-rated for resistance to dust and water, and there is no room for expandable storage.

How much is the OnePlus 10Pro?

On Amazon, the OnePlus 10 Pro is available for roughly $650. Depending on where you purchase yours, prices vary.

OnePlus 10 Pro available series

Is the OnePlus 10 Pro worth buying?

The OnePlus 10 Pro is a good smartphone with a great design, top-of-the-line specs, and a very reasonable price tag. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a high-end smartphone that can perfectly handle tasks like streaming films, playing mobile games, and browsing the internet. The phone’s 6.7-inch AMOLED screen is also excellent for watching videos.

The phone’s high resolution produces clear visuals and vibrant, vivid colours, making it ideal for viewing animations. The chipset is also very strong, making it an amazing choice for gaming. It has a good thermal system, so you do not have to worry about your phone heating up.

3 Alternatives to the OnePlus 10 Pro

3 Alternatives to the OnePlus 10 Pro

  1. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5g: This is a great substitute for the OnePlus 10 Pro. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is a fantastic choice. It boasts a larger battery at 5000mAh, a 6.9-inch HD display, superb cameras for taking images of real-life situations, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor, which offers excellent performance.
  2. Google Pixel 6 Pro: Google’s smartphone strategy has undergone a dramatic shift with the release of the Pixel 6 series. For starters, it makes its first use of Google’s semi-custom Tensor hardware. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the OnePlus 10 Pro is a more modern chipset than this one. It still provides a ton of power, though, and makes it possible to perform a variety of machine learning activities like offline speech dictation and super-res zoom photography.
  3. Oppo Find X5 Pro: OnePlus companion The Oppo Find X5 Pro is one of the best OnePlus 10 Pro substitutes currently available. The Oppo phone and the OnePlus device both have some similar characteristics, including a 6.7-inch 120Hz QHD+ OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engine, a 5,000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.

However, Oppo’s phone is unique in that it has two 50MP IMX766 sensors, one for the primary camera and the other for the ultrawide camera. So at the absolute least, expect better ultrawide photos here. In addition, the Find X5 Pro offers a 13MP 2x telephoto camera, which is somewhat underwhelming given its €1,299/£1,049 pricing.

Conclusion

Overall, the OnePlus 10 Pro brings an updated look with a smudge-free finish, higher battery capacity, a bright and accurate AMOLED screen, a flagship-grade chipset with 5g support and capable cameras. The battery life is great, the charging speed is blazing fast, and the thermal management is top-notch.
