Apple Vision Pro Elevates Concert Experience with Metallica’s Immersive Show

Apple has announced a groundbreaking concert experience featuring Metallica, launched exclusively on Apple Vision Pro on March 14. The immersive performance, filmed during the band’s M72 World Tour finale in Mexico City, showcases three iconic songs in unprecedented ultra-high-resolution 180-degree video with Spatial Audio.

The revolutionary concert experience captures Metallica performing “Whiplash,” “One,” and “Enter Sandman” through Apple’s cutting-edge Immersive Video technology. Viewers will gain exclusive access to multiple vantage points, from intimate Snake Pit perspectives to panoramic views of the band’s in-the-round performance.

“Game-changing is putting it lightly,” remarked Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. “Seeing our concert like that, along with the energy of the Mexico City fans — it’s very immersive, and it’s super fun. We’ve always been interested in pushing the boundaries, and Metallica on Apple Vision Pro is exactly that.”

To capture the electrifying performance, Apple deployed an innovative stage setup featuring 14 specialized Immersive Video cameras. The technical infrastructure included stabilized cameras, cable-suspended systems, and remote-controlled dollies, all working in concert to capture the energy of over 65,000 fans.

Apple’s vice president of Marketing Communications, Tor Myhren, emphasized the transformative nature of the technology: “With Metallica on Apple Vision Pro, you feel like you’re right there: front row, backstage, and even on stage with one of the biggest bands of all time.”

The release coincides with a new EP, “M72 World Tour: Mexico City,” available in Spatial Audio on Apple Music. Fans can experience a preview of the immersive concert through free demos at Apple Store locations where Vision Pro is available.

Music industry veteran Zane Lowe, who discussed the experience with Lars Ulrich at SXSW 2025, described it as unprecedented: “It’s not just the best seat in the house — it’s like you’re in the only seat on stage.”

The Metallica experience leads a wave of new Apple Immersive Video content, including adventure sports documentaries and the upcoming feature-length film “Bono: Stories of Surrender.” These releases showcase Apple’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of immersive entertainment.

Apple Vision Pro is currently available in 13 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, and mainland China. The device represents a significant step forward in spatial computing, offering users unprecedented ways to experience live performances and entertainment.

This innovative concert experience marks a new chapter in music consumption, potentially revolutionizing how fans engage with live performances in the digital age. As technology continues to evolve, such immersive experiences may become the new standard for virtual concert attendance.
