Is the Philips PX840T Bluetooth Boombox Speaker Worth it?

The Philips PX840T Bluetooth Boombox Speaker is a very cool boombox, and it was a very good speaker. The sound quality was clear and very loud; the best part of the speaker was the bass, which sounded very peculiar.

It has a very distinct and deep kick to every bass jump but can be light on some songs that don’t have a lot of bass to them.

The battery is very good, and it can last up to twelve hours at max, which is very good and even better than some speakers within its price range. Speaking of price, this speaker cost $169, and this price was the same across multiple stores like Amazon and Walmart.

I was also very impressed with the old-school design of the speaker. It was impressive to see the old boombox design given an updated look without totally changing that old-school feel.

How Does the Sound Quality on the Philips PX840T Bluetooth Boombox Speaker Compare to Other Bluetooth Speakers?

I like the bass because it has a very grainy feel to it; the bass is full but still has this old-school sub-bass feel to it like it is hitting every kick with an increased dip while being very deep. However, with this sub-bass kick, it may feel very light on songs that don’t have a lot of basses. However, as I had previously said, I like that bass, but those light kicks may throw some people off.

This is not very common with a lot of speakers of today, but I have to believe that it was done on purpose to mimic the sound of the older boombox of the time. Although, it could also be seen as a good thing as some songs sound distorted when they have a lot of basses added to them when the song was made without a lot of basses. This is something a lot of speakers do nowadays.

How Does the Philips PX840T Bluetooth Boombox Speaker Compare to Other Speakers?

The Philips PX840T Bluetooth Boombox Speaker is excellent, and it has a very sleek design; it is also very light, which was very surprising given its size, yet the materials used in making it were not cheap and felt very durable. Unlike some speakers, which are made of cheap materials and are not very durable.

The batteries lasted very long, up to 12hrs, and they can also be connected to direct power using an AC adaptor. However, it does consume about 50w of power which is not very common, but it does mean that the speaker is louder than other speakers under its power range, but it does drain the battery faster, which is why it needs up to 8 “D” batteries.

However, if a speaker doesn’t last long, isn’t loud and doesn’t have a lot of basses, then most people wouldn’t even buy it. However, that is not the case with this speaker, as it is loud, has good bass, and lasts very long.
