Overall
This is the second generation of fully wireless earphones from Sennheiser. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds is a sequel to the original Sennheiser Momentum that was produced in 2018.
The original model was great but it had some worrisome issues like the poor battery life that would drain quickly when left idle, and the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds should hopefully correct and improve on some of these flaws

Design
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds are available in two colours; black or white and the design is the usual cloth style case with the Sennheiser logo on it that gives it a premium and high-end look.
There has been a reduction in the size of the earbuds for it to feel more secure and fit well to your ear canals but it can still feel a bit bulky and the case is also smaller but not as small if compared to the likes of Airpod.
Also, there are LED lights at the back right that indicate the battery levels with a button you can also press to tell you the battery level and the proximity sensor on the earbuds themselves to detect whether they are in your ear or not for it to activate the auto-pause feature.
Right out of the box, there is a USB type C charging cable with some extra ear tips that are in different sizes, and the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds does not support wireless charging.
Performance
The size of the earbuds has been slightly reduced, so it is a lot more secure and fits really well in your ears compared to the original Sennheiser Momentum.
It also feels more comfortable now since less pressure would be placed on your ears when the earbuds are in your ears, and you can use the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds for workouts or for light jogs.
The Sennheiser smart control app allows you to make customised changes to your earbuds. With the custom equaliser settings, you have the ability to decide the touch controls commands on each earbud, like turning on the auto-pause to play on or off when you remove each earbud from your ear, which is great because you could not customise the touch controls on the original momentum.
You can also set the touch controls to either activate or deactivate the active noise cancelling function or pass-through mode.
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds does not have the ability to connect to two devices at a time which is disappointing because this kind of feature is what you would expect from a high-end pair of truly wireless earbuds that is even lacking aptX low latency.
The sound quality is great, but at this price point, it is just mid. The balanced sound signature makes anything sound good and offers sound stage and performance at higher volumes which is not common for earphones below $200; however, the treble accuracy is not as strong as it is in other earbuds at this price.
Sound Quality
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds sounds a little bit recessed in the mix, which means the vocals lose their presence. In contrast, the earbuds are a neutral sound signature; the bass is slightly under-emphasised.
It does not even sound better than the original Sennheiser Momentum, maybe just a slight improvement in clarity, but for what it is worth it is still one of the best wireless earbuds with great sound quality.
The active noise cancelling feature is present, and you can turn it on or off with the customisable touch control, although it does not drown out background noise completely, so the functionality at best is average.
The microphones are also similar, it works well, but for earphones, with that price point, it can definitely be a lot better. Another notable improvement from the original Sennheiser Momentum is there is no audio-visual lag with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds when you are watching a video on YouTube or when you are gaming.
Battery life
The battery life is a total of 21 hours, with the charging case and earbuds last 7 hours, which should keep you going all
Pros
- Compact battery life
- The Bluetooth is a 5.1 instead of 5.0
Cons
- No qi wireless charging
- Expensive

Is the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbud worth buying?
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds has improved on some features from the previous version, and a number of things have changed, particularly when it comes to the battery life, so now you do not have to worry about the battery draining out when its idle and the battery also does not drain out as quickly anymore.
The touch controls are customisable, so you can change features through the Sennheiser smart, cool app; even the sound quality is great if you don’t look at the price or compare it to the originals.
However, I was expecting to see vast improvements that can justify the price point, especially from a brand like Sennheiser; a significant bump in sound quality would have gone some way towards justifying the lack of improvement in other areas.
So I would say the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds is worth buying if you are a loyal fan of the Sennheiser brand because there really is no extra-ordinary redeeming qualities and at the end of the day, all you are getting here is better battery life, slightly smaller buds and customisable touch.
Conclusion
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds still has a long way to go in order for Sennheiser to justify the earbud price.
The highlighted features in this Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Earbuds review, like the battery life and customisable touch controls, is not anything out of the blues. These are standard features that you can easily find on their other wireless earbuds for far less than $300.
