Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music Journey to Super Bowl LIX Halftime Glory

Apple Music rolled out an extensive celebration of Kendrick Lamar ahead of his headlining performance at Super Bowl LIX, featuring exclusive content, special programming, and innovative fan experiences across Apple’s ecosystem.

The era-defining hip-hop artist, who ranked among 2024’s top 10 global musicians, continued to demonstrate his cultural impact with his latest album GNX reaching No. 1 in 129 countries. His single Not Like Us emerged as Apple Music’s most-streamed track worldwide, while nine of his albums topped charts in over 160 countries.

“Kendrick Lamar hadn’t just met the cultural moment—he defined it,” remarked Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s global head of content and editorial. “He was an artist’s artist—authentic to his core. We couldn’t have been more thrilled to watch him headline the third Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show this year.”

The celebration included a comprehensive lineup of events and content leading to the February 9 performance at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome. Fans accessed exclusive playlists curated by New Orleans musicians, NFL players, and teams, alongside 100 hours of dedicated Apple Music Radio programming.

A highlight of the pre-show festivities was The Official Kendrick Lamar Interview on February 6 at 10 a.m. CT, hosted by Apple Music Radio’s Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis. The interview was available across multiple platforms, including Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Facebook, X, and the NFL Network.

Apple Music Radio’s four-day takeover featured Live from Super Bowl LIX NOLA broadcasts, showcasing New Orleans’ rich music culture through interactions with artists, athletes, and cultural figures. The programming extended to Los Angeles with Super Bowl LIX LA broadcasts, celebrating Lamar’s hometown connection.

The tech giant enhanced the Super Bowl experience through various services. Apple Maps introduced detailed 3D landmarks of iconic New Orleans locations, while Apple News provided comprehensive Super Bowl coverage through partnerships with major sports publishers. Apple Fitness+ launched a special Artist Spotlight series featuring Lamar’s music across various workout types.

Supporting local education and creativity, Apple partnered with the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in New Orleans, fostering youth music education and artistic development. The collaboration culminated in the Super Bowl Host Committee Parade, featuring an Apple Music-sponsored float designed by young artists.

The comprehensive Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show celebration not only highlighted Kendrick Lamar’s artistic achievements but also demonstrated Apple’s commitment to merging technology, music, and community engagement in innovative ways.
