LG Electronics has achieved an unprecedented milestone in the European television market, announcing the sale of 10 million OLED TVs on 22 May 2025. This remarkable achievement solidifies the company’s 12-year dominance in the premium TV sector and demonstrates their continued innovation in display technology.
The accomplishment marks a significant turning point in the consumer electronics industry, highlighting the growing preference for OLED technology among European consumers. Since commercialising OLED displays in 2013, LG has maintained its position as the market leader, consistently delivering cutting-edge television technology to homes across the continent.
LG’s current OLED portfolio showcases remarkable versatility, offering screen sizes from 42 inches to an impressive 97 inches. The 2025 OLED series introduces the revolutionary “OLED Evo” technology, which delivers triple the brightness of conventional OLED displays while preserving the perfect black levels that OLED technology is renowned for.
According to market research firm Omdia, LG commands an impressive 52.4% of the global OLED TV market share as of 2024. In Europe, OLED technology generates 23% of TV revenue despite representing only 8% of sales volume, demonstrating strong consumer preference for premium display technology. The company’s dominance is particularly notable in the ultra-large segment (75 inches and above), where it holds a commanding 57.5% market share.
The company’s expansion strategy includes recent launches across eight European nations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary. LG plans to extend its reach to approximately 150 countries by the end of 2025, integrating advanced AI features such as AI concierge, chatbot, search capabilities, and voice ID recognition to enhance user experience.
Industry experts have lauded LG’s 2025 OLED lineup, with French technology publication Renumerique awarding the OLED Evo G5 model its highest rating. UK HDTV Test has particularly praised the improvements in brightness and colour accuracy, while T3 magazine has highlighted the significant advancements in OLED technology.
The global OLED TV market continues to show robust growth, with shipments increasing by 19.2% year-on-year as of February 2025. LG’s innovative features, including wireless high-definition video and audio transmission at 4K 144Hz without latency, position the company for continued market leadership.
As global TV shipments are projected to surpass 208 million units in 2025, LG’s achievement of 10 million OLED TV sales in Europe reinforces its position as an industry pioneer. This milestone not only reflects the company’s technological prowess but also indicates the growing consumer preference for premium display technologies in the European market.
