Apple has announced a significant upgrade to its Vision Pro headset, introducing Apple Intelligence – a comprehensive suite of AI-powered features coming this April through visionOS 2.4, marking a major advancement in spatial computing capabilities.
The update will initially launch with U.S. English language support, bringing powerful new tools including Writing Tools with ChatGPT integration, Image Playground for creative expression, and Genmoji for personalized emoji creation. These features aim to enhance productivity and creativity for Vision Pro users.
Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of the Vision Products Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to pushing spatial computing boundaries: “Apple Vision Pro is helping users communicate, collaborate, and experience entertainment in entirely new ways. With Apple Intelligence, Vision Pro users will be able to take their productivity and creativity to new heights.”
The Writing Tools feature stands out as a cornerstone of the update, offering users the ability to refine text through rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing capabilities across various apps including Mail and Notes. The integration of ChatGPT allows users to generate content directly within the platform.
Image Playground introduces innovative visual creation tools, enabling users to generate unique images with customizable themes, costumes, and accessories. Users can even create images based on photos of family and friends, with the feature seamlessly integrated into Messages and Freeform apps.
The update also introduces Spatial Gallery, a new app showcasing curated spatial photos, videos, and panoramas from renowned artists and brands. Content partners include Cirque du Soleil, Red Bull, and Porsche, alongside behind-the-scenes footage from Apple Originals.
Privacy remains a central focus, with Apple implementing on-device processing for intelligence features wherever possible. For more demanding tasks, the company’s Private Cloud Compute ensures user data remains secure and is never stored or shared with Apple.
The Vision Pro ecosystem expands further with a dedicated iPhone app, allowing users to manage their device, discover new content, and access helpful tips. The app will be available with iOS 18.4 and will automatically appear for Vision Pro users.
Availability extends across 13 countries including Australia, Canada, China mainland, and various European and Asian markets. While initial features will be limited to U.S. English, Apple plans to roll out additional language support and features throughout the year.
Guest User functionality receives enhancement, enabling easier sharing of experiences with family and friends through nearby iPhone or iPad devices, with the ability to save eye and hand setup preferences for up to 30 days.
