In a significant move to expand its streaming services, Apple has launched its Apple TV app on Android devices worldwide. This development highlights Apple’s latest effort to reach a broader audience beyond its ecosystem.

The new Android app, available through Google Play, offers users access to Apple TV+ content and MLS Season Pass, bringing award-winning original series, films, and live sports to Android phones, tablets, and foldable devices. The app has been specifically designed to provide Android users with a familiar and intuitive interface.

Android users can now subscribe to Apple TV+ services directly through their Google Play accounts, with a seven-day free trial available for new subscribers. The integration includes essential features such as Continue Watching and Watchlist, allowing seamless viewing experiences across multiple devices.

The app’s launch comes with robust technical capabilities, including Wi-Fi and cellular streaming support, alongside offline viewing through downloads. This functionality ensures users can enjoy content regardless of their internet connectivity status.

Apple TV+’s content library includes critically acclaimed series such as “Severance,” “Slow Horses,” and “The Morning Show.” The platform also features notable films like “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the Oscar-winning “CODA,” demonstrating Apple’s commitment to premium content production.

Sports enthusiasts will particularly benefit from this expansion, as the app launches just before the Major League Soccer’s 2025 season. Through MLS Season Pass, fans can access every match without blackout restrictions, complemented by exclusive content and comprehensive coverage. The service will showcase all 30 MLS clubs starting February 22, marking the league’s 30th season.

The streaming service has demonstrated remarkable success since its November 2019 launch, accumulating 538 wins and 2,553 award nominations. This achievement includes recognition for shows like “Ted Lasso” and “CODA,” establishing Apple TV+ as a formidable player in the streaming industry.

For 2025, Apple TV+ is expanding its sports coverage with the introduction of Sunday Night Soccer, offering weekly primetime MLS matches. This addition complements the existing Friday Night Baseball program, which features Major League Baseball double-headers without local broadcast restrictions.

The expansion to Android represents a strategic shift in Apple’s approach to service distribution, potentially reaching millions of new viewers while maintaining the platform’s premium content standards and user experience.
